Te Rarawa area of interest
For the purpose of the negotiating historical Treaty claims the area of interest on the map below was used. This area of interest takes into account other Iwi and the situation that has developed from 1840 up to 2011. It does not represent Te Rarawa mana whenua in 1840 as Te Rarawa had many other interests and associations to the north, east and south which have not been included. Te Rarawa still maintains broader interests and associations based on whakapapa and history.  Te Rarawa's Iwi narrative outlines the context for Te Rarawa interests.
